Allerton Primary School, Year 6 aged 10 to 11, have been exploring various aspects of different African countries. In the widest sense the children have worked on similarities and differences between their lives, and lifestyles, and those of various individuals and/or communities in Uganda, Lesotho and Nigeria. Issues about culture and sustainabilty, including environmental change, have been studied and reflected upon, culminating in work on global warming and its impact and what action can be taken. The work was spread over the summer term. The "Creative Curriculum " used in most English primary schools allows for topics or themes to be the vehicle through which a range of subjects can be covered.
Here you can download teaching material (such as lesson plans, games...), which was developed in the framework of the Global Curriculum Project by project teachers and the project organisations. Please use for your research the categories age, subject, language and type.
