In order to ensure better the education of colonized peoples, the French missionaries - installed in Porto Novo since 1864 - created the Secondary Course of Notre Dame de Lourdes of Porto-Novo in 1957. It was born with the opening of the first year of secondary school with six (6) students enrolled. But in 1978 the College was forced to close because its premises were requisitioned by the Revolutionary Military Government (RMG) which led the country in that time and which took the 7th of April, 1978 Ordinance No. 78 - 13. This ordinance authorizes the State to appropriate all the religious schools. With the advent of democracy in 1990, the College Notre Dame has reopened its doors in October 1991 and never closes them until today.
What we want to tell about our school
The desire to train the man and the whole man through the intellectual and spiritual training, the culture of excellence through the management methods.
